PTA Publishes A Statement On WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy

Regarding WhatsApp’s new terms of service following growing concerns about the messaging service, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA issued a statement on Wednesday. [Islamabad]
In a series of Tweets, telecommunications regulators shared comments from Facebook and WhatsApp, taking into account “the public’s concern.”

The rationale for the changes to the WhatsApp privacy policy is to enable people to buy directly from WhatsApp and get help from the business.
WhatsApp will stay end-to-end encrypted (Secure). Authorities have convinced citizens that the new terms of service “do not affect the way people communicate privately with friends and family.

An administrator who cited information from WhatsApp said that with the new terms of service WhatsApp makes it easier for people to buy and get business help by contacting them directly via WhatsApp.

The regulator said that in explaining further WhatsApp rules, the “shopping data can be shared with merchants and Facebook to improve their services”, only if a user starts using WhatsApp to contact to businesses via the WhatsApp for Business App.
